Day 22 Saturday February 2

Junk culture in industrial park in Borrego - waiting for Steve

Monumental library in Borrego Springs
Sprinters on Parade

The Great Circle of Borrego
Conservatory at Queen E park Vancouver (see hot tip below)

Standard breakfast with the exception of the addition of peanut butter and salsa on fried bread. Rain in the night, broken cloud now, rain throughout the afternoon and evening forecasted. Friday crowd rolled in last night bringing overwrought children and noisy apparently incompetent millennials; none immediately cheek by jowl with ourselves.
Met F and E yesterday by accident on bike ride around the immense traffic circle that forms the beating heart of Borrego Springs. They were with friends Connie and Jim, fellow sprinters, and S. The discussion centered on Jim’s plan to buy a bigger newer sprinter with 4 wheel drive and duals; I felt, but did not ask, that Jim was from Texas, turns out to be Georgia. Jim and Connie will take delivery of their new Sportsmobile 2018 Sprinter 24 footer at the plant in Austin in some 2 1/2 weeks.  We must arrange to be at the gate to see them emerge!
Proposal by phone from E. to meet for lunch at Kesling's Kitchen on the traffic circle followed by group shot of 4 sprinters (new sprinter has joined group although I have not met the newest member). F and E will occupy site ninety something this pm having spent the previous night at a boondocking spot to the east with Jim and Connie called Rock House.
Social day: Met with road people at lunch. New people Mark and Liesbet have been traveling continuously for the last 15 years. House sitting for random home owners, sailing, sprintering. Hot tip for Vancouver - one can park/camp at Queen Elizabeth park for free!
Forgot to mention that S got another bike repair yesterday in Borrego; she had a loose shift cable from the previous cable replacement at Hazards in Santa Barbara. 15$.
Hanging at the library for a while on this rainy desert afternoon especially as this oasis is closed Sunday and Monday.

Wind gusted up after dark and tried to take the awning and the carpet. S and I engaged and ultimately prevailed. Later we tried to watch 8 Days in May with Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster but the speaker on the tv was just weak and with the rain, well...

Note - Wilson cell booster. Company name may have changed to Weboost.
